Artist bio
This project consists of 10 original works and encompasses a flair for the nostalgic, forceful and immanent ‘backyard’ of the typical Israeli atmosphere, ultimately subverting Pop Culture, internet clip-art and accessing latent issues. The paintings in the series are fervently-colored to be emotionally imbued.
The authentic magic of rooted places is discovered and materialized from the point of view of a displaced artist, who changes the common view to be specific and poignant. A slight skewing of an ordinary landscape via scale twists, color distortions and site-specific details results in an air of natural and psychological moments.
A rich, bold color scheme and a highly legible figurative style are used to exhibit the humorous interplay of the stratified local socio-political situations.
Moments of absurdity within otherwise charged atmospheres are simultaneously paying homage to the culture of rural neighborhoods and appears to give expressionistic and kitsch qualities while retaining a thrift store tongue in cheek fa?ade to mirror imbalanced social frequencies.
